Came across this great video released by Subaru, where rally driver Mark Higgins sets a new record at the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course, and allegedly does it in a stock 2011 Subaru WRX STI, with some suspension modifications. That's some cool news for Subaru fans, but I am more about the video and precisely the driving of Mark Higgins, or you can say the precise driving of Higgins. I am puzzled how he achieves an average speed of 115 mph on a track that goes throught the most narrows streets you will see in a small town. There is also a moment where he loses control of the car going down the hill at 150 mph and manages to straighten it back out, that moment is replayed and explained in details by Mark at the end of the video.

Lexus LFA "Green Hell" record

Today Lexus has released a video of the LFA Nurburgring Edition setting the record of fastest production car on the planet from major manufacturer. The record was set at Nurburgring "Green Hell" track where previously the Porsche GT2 RS held the record as the fastest vehicle around the track. Lexus claims that the LFA Nur. Ed. in the video is completely stock, and only 50 of these models will be sold, which will probably be pre-ordered even before they are for sale. The difference between a regular LFA and the Nur Ed in the power output is merely 10-hp, the shift time has also been reduced to .015 secs, and some major changes in the suspension that probably plaid a prominent role in the record run. The point is, Ken Block is definitely the best marketer/business man out of all the rally drivers in the world and this is where he can actually give lessons to other motorsports drivers. This latest video of Ken Block's Gymkhana, and this time he involved some real time Hollywood buddies of his, this really is an ingenious way to market his brand DC SHOES and just give exposure to himself and his Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle, he is the brand after all these videos.

I am kinda late on the news, but Cyber Evo was able to retain it's title as the fastest Time Attack Vehicle in the world, even thought there were times when Garage Revolution and Sierra-Sierra were the ones with the better time, Tarzan Yamada still managed to beat their and his own timing and snatch the top podium spot. Second came in Garage Revolution, they put up a great fight and their RX-7 is amazing, and finally third came in Sierra-Sierra Enterprise with their Evo driven by David Empringham.

A 2 day challenge is already underway and the first day was wrapped up with Cyber Evo in the lead. The competition is fierce like always, for some time in the morning Garage Revolution and their RX-7 were in the lead but Tarzan Yamada took it back. The prayers of Subaru fans havefinally been answered, by the firm itself. Apparently a "source" hastold Auto Express that Subaru decided to put a stop to their bullshit, and bythat I mean having the WRX based on a fuel efficient family oriented vehicle. Rumorsare that starting next year the Impreza and WRX will split and literally willbe two different vehicles, completely! Now everything is going to be justright, the standard Impreza will be the automakers fuel efficient core model,and the WRX will be a 4WD rally machine. It will feature 200bhp 1.6 liter boxerturbo, and will be rally oriented in every aspect. In words of the Auto Expresssource " We have developed it from ground up to win in Motorpsorts" "That's why we have focused onweight issues, not to mention a shorter wheelbase that permits faster, moreprecise turn-in. We think we have a winner"

Subarupulled out of WRC in 2008 and I am sure they have been more than anxious toreturn back and they have probably worked very hard in their lab to make their return in goodfashion. The picture is just an interpretation by a Japanese artist and has nothing to do with the automaker itself.

We have already seen some highly modified hybrids featured at the 2010 SEMA auto show. With the 2025 fuel economy requirements set to 54.5 mpg, hybrid tuning might eventually gain mainstream attention and possibly will be the only tuning for us in the future. This particular Prius is the work of Japanese aftermarket tuner firm TommyKaira, the only information available to me is the visible modifications which is a very nice aero kit and a 4 tip titanium exhaust. I am hoping they made some altering under the hood or perhaps an engine swap to put all that downforce to use.

This is a new video from Vossen Wheels, small company based in Miami Florida specializing in design and manufacturing of concave wheels. These 20' VVS-CV3 babies make the IS250 look like a porn star. They manufacture some quality beautiful looking rims, and most importantly they have a 5 year warranty on all of them, I have never heard of something like this before. Obviously these rims are not cheap.

I love this Evo X I found on the TEIN USA official blog, looks like it is owned by the person that runs their blog. This Evo simple and clean, sitting on white Volk TE 37's matching the paint, just love it. All I know about this car that it has a TEIN Mono Flex Damper System fitted with Tein Electronic Damping Force Controller, and a Futjitsubo Legalis R exhaust system.

This video is a very a concise overview of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 - the Benz supercar. From the first glance, you can tell that Mercedes emphasized on the aerodynamics and it looks like they did a great job at utilizing everything possible to create a shit-load of downforce. From the front bumper splitter and cancards to rear deffuser and a huge wing - everything in carbon fiber, this car should literally stay stuck to the ground at high speed cornering. At the bay, there is the same 6.3 V8 engine that is used in the production vehicles, but generating a maximum of 563 HP and 480 lb-ft of torque. Lots of vents on the hood and on the side of the car to keep a constant flow of air by letting it exit the bay freely and aid the cooling. The best part is of course when he starts the engine, it is very sonorous. This is the first time since the 50's a gullwing Benz will be performing on the track, and the car seems like it handle some competition.

What gives a vehicle the super-car status? Price tag? Exotic mid-engine? Styling? Performance? Acclaimed by Media? There isn't much agreement on this, but to me it seems like the price-tag and a huge engine play the major role in super-car title acclamation. LFA's 4.8 liter V10 produces 552 horsepower and has a top speed of 201 MPH, can that be considered a super car engine? Not sure, but the price-tag of 375 thousand dollars sure can be. Considering the price-tag, the Lexus LFA is the first super-car to come out of Japan, the 2000GT the NSX and the GT-R, either lack engine displacement or the price-tag is too low. In this video Motortrend puts Lexus's first super-car against the most iconic vehicle that came out of Japan, the GT-R. At roughly 1/4 of the price, the GT-R puts up a great challenge, and don't forget this is the 2010 GT-R, the 2012 model had some horsepower revision and does 0-62 in 2.9 second, which is enough to smoke the LFA at the quarter of a mile.

Federal Gov. Cracks Down on Skyline Owners

Skyline - a pinnacle of Japanese auto creations, the dream of most enthusiasts involved in the JDM scene, this car is simply an icon for us. Most of you know that for a substantial amount of money, Skylines can be imported from overseas, but what most of you don't know, is that by law most of these cars are considered contraband. Any vehicles imported into US must go through rigorous regulations and a ton of paperwork, and also crash testing. To make a long story short, when Mortex was importing skylines, prior to their shut-down, they only crash tested the R33 and that data was approved by the NHTSA. Mortex never performed any kind of tests on the R32's and 34's, yet they imported them under the crash test results of R33 as "substantially similar" vehicle. In 2006 the NHTSA decided that the 3 models were not so similar after all and prohibited the 32's and 34's to be imported. This rendered the R33 1996-1998 GTS and GTR as the only skyline legal to import under US law. Recently the owner of skylineusaowners.com was targeted by the federal government and one of his skylines was declared illicit and will be seized. You can read the full are at nicoclub. This is the most absurd and ridiculous story I have heard, they are spending our tax money on running organized activities towards seizing skylines! They have nothing better to do? Terrorism? Illigal immigration? Drug Trafficking? The "HOMELAND SECURITY" shows up to his house like he is trafficking drugs in large quantities? WTF is the matter with these people?

NFS Shift 2: Realism

Now, if your are into motorsports, and I mean any kind of racing, I am sure you played the first NFS Shift, and if you didn't, you should pick one up ASAP. Doesn't matter what system you play the game on - I prefer PC, this game is the most realistic friggin racing game I have ever played, and now they are coming out with a new one and supposedly making it more real! This video shows home much emphasis they put on making the game seem, sound and feel, realistic and authentic.

I've also decided to throw another trailer of the game. The new Pagani Huyara makes it's debut in the new NFS Shift 2 Unleashed. This trailer is pure insanity, just like the car itself. If you haven't seen the car yet, I included some pictures at the end.

To celebrate 75 years of elegant engineering, Jaguar decided to make a "statement of the future" with their concept C-X75. Equipped with a two 80,00 rpm gas turbines that generate electricity for the four individual electric motors at each of the wheels, resulting in 780 bhp - sure is science fiction engineering. The key idea, stated by jaguar design team was to create a super-car that is relevant to the environment and at the same time retain the characteristics of a 2 seater Jaguar.

Peeking through engine glass, C-X75 turbines make mid mounted Ferrari and Lambo powerplants look defunct. Capable of reaching 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds with zero emissions, for some critics its a concept car that will never reach production status. Classified as a range-extended electric vehicles, it can go 68 miles on full charged lithium-ion battery pack, after which twin-turbines kick in charging the electric motor, and extending the range to 560 miles.

Inspired by the never raced 1966 XJ13 prototype, the vehicle features impeccable mechanical beauty, and spaceship-type futuristic design on the inside - props to the Jag design team. If the C-X75 is ever to reach production, it will be a hell of a first vehicle for Tata motors as the owners of Jaguar, and possibly a pinnacle of Jaguar creations.

The Future of Tuning?

With Hybrid tuning on the roll full throttle, I decided to post some that were in the spotlight of 2010 SEMA show.

The first one is the Honda CR-Z, recently appearing on the market but already probably the most popular hybrid car for tuning. The CR-Z dominated the SEMA with 12 models of performance tuned hybrids. This particular model was prepared by Honda Performance Development, Honda U.S racing division. The Hybrid R concept has a blower strapped to its 1.5 motor, and upgraded hybrid system which results in a total output of 200hp and 175lb-ft of torque. It also features a racing tuned suspension, upgraded brakes, clutch and aerodynamic components. The Racer version of the Hybrid R concept is fitted with roll cages and is signed for December's 25 hour of Thunderhill endurance race.

This slammed Prius was put together by Toyota Japan's Conversion and Accessories team. Wearing and all carbon fiber body kit that even includes a rear diffuser, and sitting on 18 inch forged alloys. The car is lowered 102 mm in the front and 152mm in the rear with TEIN performance suspension and is fitted with a rear sway bar. Even fitted with a friggin roof scoop and Recaro racing seats this Prius is ready for track, but unfortunately the guys at C&A refrained from engine modifications , so this hybrid will not see the circuit.

Last we have the new Volt extended-range hybrid vehicle. As all green car manufacturers are trying to make their cars appeal to the youth and enthusiasts in us, Chevy doesn't want to be left out. They introduced their new custom design package Z-Spec for the Volt. Although the package does not make any aerodynamic and performance modifications, it does make the car look sportier and more aggressive. Deeper bumpers and still extensions, different lights, 19 inch rims, black satin grille trim, and unnecessary graphic package is all part of the deal soon to be available from factory Not sure which enthusiasts Chevy is trying to interest with this, but I have no doubt this will be a good compromise for teenagers going away to college, and their parents burdened with a choice of a car to bestow their child with.

Flodin in Russian Rally Needs Only 1 Wheel

Check out this video I found on the official blog of TEIN USA. Patrik Flodin and his co-driver flying through the stage of Russian Rally. This video really grabbed my attention, you can almost feel the STI buckle to the side, and stand on 2 wheels as Patrick tackles some of these turn at more than 80mph. At one point, about 1:30 into the video, something incredibly amazing happens. The Subaru literally stands on the front left wheel and for a second goes into the air as Patrik flies into the turn and whizzes past spectators feet away. But then, by stark magic, or merely skills, it lands back on 4 and keeps going. TEIN is a major sponsor of Patrik in the P-WRC, this is their major innovating testing ground for their signature Gr.N damper. With their sponsorship Patrik finished 2nd overall in 2010 season with 100 points, he grabbed 3 first podium spots in Jordan, Sweden, and Japan.

From E30 M3 to E82 1M with N54???

BMW M3, first released 25 years ago based on the E30 3 series, is probably the most iconic automobile created by Bavarian Motors. The success this car enjoyed in motorsports as a compact sports vehicle is huge. The initial idea behind the first M3 was to to create a compact car with race car capabilities, indisputable agility, responsiveness and dynamics, to compete with Mercedes E190. After years the M3 gained considerably in size, and now could be measured to the 5-series of the 80's.

The new BMW 1 Series M is an inspired attempt to recreate the iconic vehicle that started it all. Initially the BMW was going to release the car in limited amount, but after a somewhat positive response they decided to release as many as they can by 2012, when they will end the production.Only 71 inches wide and 172.4 inches long, it is only 4.8 inches wider and 1.3 inches longer than the E30 ancestor. It features 104.7 inch wheelbase which is 4 inches longer but the front and rear track width are exactly the same. There are already rumors circulating the internet about a special edition performance E82 1M at the end of the 2012, when production stops. Here is a picture created but Jon Sibal, inspired by the 1975 3.0 CSL and 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo. Amazing job by Jon!

Now, don't get me wrong here when I talk about why I am disappointed with the BMW on this one. The idea behind the 1M seems great, and the car itself, just like the 135, but there is one "but". There are lots of disappointed people out there, because a recreation of such iconic car has been fitted with the BMW N54 engine. The engine is known to have major issues and even BWM acknowledged them. The fuel pump is notorious for failure, the car would shut-off on many N54 owners in the middle of their driving, and not restart. The second issue reported is turbo-lag, now for the M enthusiasts that is a more serious problem, and deteriorates on the reputation of all M cars, but no doubt they worked all that out before throwing the N54 in an M badged car, at least we hope they did. But even the issues with the motor are not the reason for the disappointment here, the whole idea of using a base motor for an M badged car is wrong, and then comparing it to the "The E30" is just ridiculous. A vehicle like the 1M should have been fitted with an all new engine exclusively created for it, but instead they take the N54, do some ECU programming and use it just to make the car sell, why BMW??? Now, I have no doubt that the car will sell, but it won't justify the M badge on it. In the end, the N54 engine is known to be lenient for aftermarket modification, maybe this is not that bad after all.

When Honda introduced the CR-Z, it injected the words "sporty" and "fun to drive" into the hybrid lexicon. The 2 seater definitely has the impressive looks with which it evokes the CRX of the 80's and the first generation Insight. But, lets face it, the CR-Z is not sports car. Sporty hybrid?. Yes!

The front-wheel drive CR-Z is powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder combined with a 10-kW electric motor which results in a combined output of 122hp and EPA estimates of 35/39 mpg, reaching 0-60 mph in 10.5 secs. It is the same i-VTEC engine found in the Fit. Sporty for who? College professor that switched from a Prius! No doubt the car's handling in many review has been mentioned as crispy, responsive, and with good precision, but handling is Honda's forte.

For the Honda enthusiasts that don't care about the MPG and efficiency it was somewhat a disappointing comeback of the CRX. From the day the CR-Z was announced, the Honda freaks have been drooling with contemplation of a K-Series engine swap into the CR-Z, the prayers have been answered after all. LHT Performace have done it again, one of the pioneers of the K-Series swap into the first generation Insight. In the short video the car is not doing anything exciting, but you can see that the K20 swap looks factory clean. According to them they have all the electronics working properly. Nothing is mention about the battery removal, but we can guess that it was removed to cut a substantial amount of weight. We will be expecting more videos of this CR-Z, hopefully in action.

This is a video of the new 2011 GT-R being tested at the Sendai Highland Racetrack in Japan, the sole purpose of the test is to get the official 0-62mph or 0-100kmh timing. We already know that the new GT-R will pack a whopping 530 bhp and 448 lb.-ft. of torque, new suspension, and enhanced aerodynamic to provide more downforce. The videos shows that GT-R hits 0-62 mph in 3.046 second, but it was already confirmed by Nissan that the official time for 0-62 mph (0-100km) is exactly 3 second and 0-60 mph in 2.9!!!! That in fact puts Nissan in the 3 second club, where it beats the new Porsche Turbo S. Now for a price tag of 89,950 that is the cheapest entrance fee you will pay to join the club.

AMS Alpha 10 GT-R sets world record again

In October, I posted a video of AMS Performance R35-GT-R setting the record for 1/4 mile in 9.3@153 mph. Forget all that for now, AMS have been playing with their Alpha 10 GT-R at the drag strip recently after making some changes and adding an extra 80 wheel horses since the last visit to the strip. The Alpha 10 GT-R is now rated at 980 horsepower and 871 lbs/ft torque at the wheels, estimated 1166 and 1036 lb/ft torque at the engine. According to AMS the weather was at the 50's during their test which created an issue with traction, but that did no stop them, they were able to pull a 1/4 at 9.19@163 mph and setting the new world record. The same day their Alpha 9 packed GT-R set the pump gas record logging a 9.95@141.01 mph.

Ken Block's Gymkhana 3

High speed racing, insane drifting with tire screeching and lots of smoke, and unbelievably precise car control is all parts of Gymkhana Motorsports. Gymkhana courses are very complex featuring obstacles such as cones tires and other placed in a way that require precise maneuvering at high speeds, this is the ultimate way to test you driving abilities. The driver is Ken Block, a professional rally racer with Monster World Rally Team and co-founder of DC shoes. This is the 3rd video packed with ostentation and blockbuster features starting Ken, and my favorite one. Ken tackles l’Autodrome de Linas-Montlhery (in France) and its 51-degree banking for 5 and 1/2 minutes in a wicked For Fiesta that almost seems docile under Kens deft control. Even tho Ken has accomplished nothing in international motorsports, for now he is the first and only American that has a chance to prospect in WRC.

Hiromu Naruse, for some people this name means absolutely nothing, for most JDM enthusiasts, it merely mean everything. It is without any doubt safe to say, that this man had contributed more to Toyota than any other person. He took part in every single revolutionary vehicle that came out of Toyota to this day, you name it. Starting from 2000GT in 1967 which was Japan's first supercar, and finishing with Lexus LFA, which is Japan's last supercar, and these are not even the best creation of Toyota that were touched by his wisdom and knowledge. Throughout his long career he was give an epithet of "Mesiter" or master in German, which was well deserved and even European automakers gave homage by calling him that.
Naruse-san immersed into the world of Toyota Motor Corporation in 1963, initially considered for an accounting position in the company, he landed a job as a company mechanic, looks like fate had other plans. As a mechanic he worked on cars such as Toyota Sports 800 and Toyota 1600GT, and in 1967 he helped create a car that revolutionized the world's perspective of Japan, Toyota 2000GT, which later lead to the creation of a custom build Toyota 7 for Japanese Grand Prix. 2000GT was the first Japanese car that could rival the European supercars and was strongly compared to Porsche 911. As a chief mechanic and in charge of motorsports development, he was transferred to Switzerland, as Toyota was begging it's infiltration of the European racing scene. Now as a chief mechanic, he worked on one of the most successful production vehicles , Toyota Celica, after which he had hand in every single Celica generation made. Narusa was the test driver for several other successful creation like iconic sports car Toyota Supra, Toyota MR-S and Lexus IS, he even put his time into the newly eco-conscious movement of the Japanese automakers, the second generation Prius.

Toyota 2000GT

Regarded by himself as the "best development ever" did not come until Naruse-san was well over 60. The Lexus LFA he loved the most, and at nearly 70 years old he test-drove his prototype 1.5 million euro edition extensively on the Nürburgring, where he logged the most hours out of any Japanese driver ever. He was the chief of the Gazoo Racing team that participated in the 24 Hours Nürburgring, where LFA won its SP8 class. He put an immense amount of work into the development of LFA and is considered to be the "godfather" of the vehicle. Naruse was also a personal driver for Akio Toyoda, the president and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation.

Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition

The appalling accident occurred on Highway 410 on Wednesday June 23rd, near the Nurburgring racetrack that automakers use to test their vehicles. The LFA that Naruse drove came into oncoming traffic and collided with a BMW, which resulted in the total-loss of both vehicles,. Naruse-san and the unknown passenger with him were pronounced dead, and both occupants of BWM listed in critical condition. How ironic that his demise was at the place that he spent most of his time and inside the car that he put most and last of his hours, he was 66. Naruse-san influenced not only Toyota's development, but all the JDM scene, and is responsible for a lot of things enthusiasts appreciate that came out of Japan. His obstinate approach to test driving will be lacked at Toyota, and his vigorous character will never be replaced.

This video was inspired by a Brazilian motorsports driver and a three time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna. He died in an appalling accident while leading the race, in front of Michael Schumacher at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. He is regarded as one of the best drivers in the Formula One history and was accredited so by the British magazine Autosport. This video features Honda NSX, which is regarded as one of the greatest Japanese sports cars. Ayrton Senna actually took part in the development of the NSX, and was considered their main innovator and test driver. His contribution helped create NSX, which now can be regarded as the greatest, just like Ayrton Senna. Watch the whole video without any interruptions, it is veritably breathtaking. Found in 1990, by Slovenia racer Igor Akrapovič, the company makes some of the best exhausts in the world for motorcycles. During his racing career, Akrapovič came to a conclusion that there is no exhaust adequate enough for him on the market. With the experience that he gained in motorcycle racing, Akrapovic decided he will design his own high quality aftermarket exhaust system, which will be widely available for any kind of customers. The Akrapovič exhaust systems have been used in a total of 38 championships as of 2010, and are extremely popular in Italian motorcycles like Aprilia and Ducati, and recently they have decided to expand into the Italian super-car sector. The exhausts does not change a lot in numbers for the new 458 Italia, it only adds around 10 horsepower and 19 ft/lb of torque, and it lightens the car by 31 pounds. Fortunately the best thing about the exhaust is not the specs, but the beautiful sounds that it produces, it almost makes the Ferrari sing, and cry with joy.

On Sep 12th, the Swede Flodin and his navigator Bergsten cease the top podium spot at Production Car World Rally Championship (P-WRC) on Rally Japan, and slip away with 25 points towards the title. That is what makes TEIN products outperform other performance suspension brands not only in performance, but also in endurance, consistency and most of all quality which makes driving with this exceptional suspension a fulfilling experience. Since Ichino and Fujimoto started their quest for the shock absorbers that would withstand their aggressive runs in the Kanagawa rally , TEIN never stops the pursuit to developing a perfect suspension, which can be suitable for all drivers in search of total driving satisfaction and pleasure.

Born in rally for performance, TEIN's decisive point came in 1995, with the Japan's government need to revitalize the economy and make the market more open to the world, or in essence make the Japanese market more attractive for domestic as well as foreign investors. A big part of the plan was to be performed on the US and Japanese auto markets, and the goals was to reduce the number of critical parts subjected to regulation and to deregulate the attachment of vehicle accessories added after purchase by reducing those subject to modification inspection. In other words, there was more lenience towards cars on the street to have aftermarket parts replacements and modifications, which of course included suspension mods. From their worldwide confident reputation in the rally events and circuit, suddenly demand for TEIN products skyrocketed which made them as leaders of the aftermarket performance industry.

Now that their parts were to sell for street use, comfort came as a very essential factor in development of new products. The desire to satisfy the ride comfort and at the same time have a minimal decrease in performance, in the street used shock absorbers is a very challenging task, consumer's tastes are very diversified on the factor of comfort, but "technical innovation" or the production of best products with the latest technology is the company policy. Products such as Type Flex coilovers were created to satisfy customers that had the desire for a suspension that provided the ultimate balance between comfort and performance, therefore making it the ideal coilover for people that participate in less intense motorsports such as track days and time attacks and at the same time drive the same setup on the street without diminishing on comfort of the ride. TEIN Type Flex provides a greater increase in cornering performance, while still being comfortable enough to use on the street. This is accomplished by a higher spring rate and a twin tube internal design damper, which allows for a sufficient piston stroke due to the gas and oil chambers being separately positioned, and a more comfortable ride due to the base valve sharing damping pressure thus keeping gas pressure low. TYPE FLEX features 16 levels of adjustment, pillowball upper mounts, three stage powder coating, full length ride height adjustment, and newly designed spring seat. This is just an example of many products offered by TEIN, that combine performance and comfort.

TEIN products go through rigorous and precise 60 day testing phase before reaching the customer's hands. Each individual shock absorber is incessantly stroked over 10 million times, that is equivalent of about 5 years of use. To ensure exceptional durability, TEIN simulates the most harsh conditions in their testing, the speed of the piston on the testing equipment is around 0.6m/s, which is the most extreme movement the shock absorber will face on the street. Temperatures will reach around 80 to 100°C, which is hotter than the shocks will ever reach on a race track in mid-summer. The Hydraulic Damper Tester exactly simulates any road condition around the world, so the dampers can be tested inside the office, conserving on time with real life track testing. Rust is an issue that is faced by any underbody and exterior aftermarket part eventually. To minimize the rust occurrence, products are sprayed with salt water for 96 hours incessantly, which is equivalent of around 1 year of use in heavy snowfall areas. All these tests are performed using the most advance testing equipment available to provide all customer with safety and peace of mind.

After a long term absence of 7 years from the rally world, TEIN eventually returned to the rally scene in 2005, and chose to support vehicles in the P-WRC. The performance and durability required by the drivers was very different from what it was initially when TEIN used to be in the rally scene, but that did not frighten Ichino and Fujimoto. P-WRC class was chosen for a particular reason by TEIN, in this class engine modification are prohibited, which puts a lot of emphasis on suspension modifications, that can directly affect the race results. The newly developed Gr.N Damper which debuted in P-WRC was somewhat a disappointment for TEIN, they were placed 8th and for their standards it was unacceptable. Great efforts were thrown at improving the damper over a short period of time, and only 6 months after the unsuccessful debut the re-developed damper shared the success.
That year TEIN won the WRC Rally Final in Finland sponsoring an Imprezza, after that the glory went on for TEIN shock absorbers winning the Super Taikyu series for 2 consecutive years. TEIN was back, and at the top of the performance suspension race scene. With their dedication and belief they met the high expectation of the fast evolving performance market and took control putting forth products that simply outperformed their competition. Having said all this, TEIN is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year, and they continue to satisfy the high expectations of the ever-changing performance industry, only by expecting the highest from themselves.

Sunday September 5th, at 10am Greddy will open the doors to its now second festival or Greddy FEST2 which will be held at USA headquaters in Irvine, CA. A very anticipated event for Greddy, in which they are looking to interact with the enthusiasts and import lovers. According to Greddy there is already around 200 vehicles pre-registered to appear, so there sure will be a sweet display of modified imports. Greddy will also feature all the show cars they have including the R35 GTR which still holds the record for the fastest R35 in the world. To complete the scene Greddy will have its official girls to entertain and take pictures with cars, Alicia Whitten, Corissa Furr & Alexia Cortez.

Taking place at Wall Township, Jersey on the longest course in Formula D, and obviously the most hated course by the drivers, but on the other hand being really entertaining for us the fans. Team Falken Tires annihilate the competition at this round 3 of Formula D in 2009 by taking all 3 spots on the podium. Darren McNamara took the top spot in his Saturn Sky; Vaughn Gittin, Jr., earned second with his 2010 Ford Mustang GT; and Tyler McQuarrie finished third, driving his Nissan 350Z. Agency Power known for its quality and also fashionable products for Prosche 996 has recently released 2 new applications. Both of the products are for 966's predecessor and the all new enhanced Porsche 997.2 Turbo PDK or 6speed. Both of the products have been dyno tested, and proved to add a significant amount of hp to the already powerful 997. The First product is a High Flow Y-pipe for 997.2 Turbo 10+. The same Y-pipe for 996TT and 997TT was proven to be very successful according to AP itself, so there was no reason not to go with the development of this Y-pipe for 997.2. The Y-pipe kit with its 3inch piping opens up the restricted air flow of the intercooler pipe system, therefore achieving better performance and more power from the 997.2. The kit works with stock intercooler fittings and throttle body and has all the fittings and sensors that are required for installation. Tested at vividracing's Mustang Dynometer the Y-Pipe added about 10awhp and torque gain of 20ft/lbs which makes it a great bolt-on performance enhancer. The second part is AP Street Tuned Exhaust that features 200 cell high flow cats, a single muffler system with 70mm piping and available in all stainless steel or matte black ceramic. Due to the fact that Porsche is an OEM manufacturer, they have obligations to meet sound and emissions standards, therefore making their exhaust systems very restrictive. Agency Power does a good job at getting rid of these OEM restrictions with their exhaust, increasing air flow and decreasing backpressure, therefore generating more hp from a stock engine, not only that but it also saves you around 30lbs on the back end making it a win-win situation. The exhaust has a tame tone during cruising but gives an incredible sound at full throttle. Tested at Vividracing's dyno the exhaust gave a significant increase of around 15awhp and 20ft/lbs of tourqe which makes it another solid bolt-on power adder which retails at $3,750.00.

Each application is dyno tested and proven to maximize exhaust flow, minimize back pressure, thus increase horsepower, while at the same time increase durability over OEM exhaust. HKS offers wide variety of exhaust system, each has its own distinctive characteristics and you can be sure to find something that will suit your personal need and taste.

Hi-Power Exhaust – As name implies, HKS Hi-Power Exhaust is designed with maximizing horsepower in mind, using technologies and experience gathered in Japanese endurance and GT racing. Important features include race inspired offset muffler and piping design, application optimized piping size, and minimized bends for optimum exhaust path. Turbocharged cars will benefit from the increased flow and decreased backpressure, which results in faster turbo spool and higher power and torque output. Naturally aspirated cars will also benefit from high rpm output which Hi-Power Exhaust provides, as the level of tuning is increased. All HKS Hi-Power Exhaust are made from SUS304 stainless steel, muffler and tip assemblies. Certain applications come with inner silencer for decreased noise.

Carbon-Ti Exhaust – HKS Carbon-Ti Exhaust is a special version of the Hi-Power Exhaust. Similar to Hi-Power Exhaust, Special Edition HKS Carbon Titanium versions are also available for popular applications, which feature carbon fiber muffler shell, titanium tip, and polished SUS304 stainless steel piping.

Titanium Racing Muffler Exhaust – HKS developed this exhaust specifically for their racing Toyota Supra. Optimized for 800 to 1000 horsepower output, this exhaust features 102mm stainless steel piping and 170mm Titanium muffler assembly. The Titanium Racing Muffler is also 40% lighter than the regular HI-Power Muffler. This is HKS’s highest flowing exhaust and is designed and intended for racing purpose; it comes with removable silencer when noise restriction is required.

Dragger Exhaust – HKS Dragger Exhaust is the first system that incorporates a seamless muffler shell, resulting in a very uniform stress distribution, and smoother construction. Each system is constructed from stainless steel piping for corrosion protection, and straight-through stainless steel muffler assembly with engraved logo and angle cut tip. HKS Dragger Exhaust has optimized piping size for each application so both power and torque can be optimized for turbocharged and naturally aspirated cars.
Dragger II Exhaust – HKS Dragger II Exhaust is the evolution of the original HKS Super Dragger Exhaust. The new HKS Dragger II Exhaust has a slim-line muffler for added ground clearance and optional silencer for noise suppression. Just like the Dragger Exhaust, each application has optimized piping size so both power and torque can be optimized for turbocharged and naturally aspirated cars.

Turbo Exhaust – HKS Turbo Exhaust is designed for vehicles that are turbocharged from the factory and already feature high power output. These high power turbocharged vehicles needed a bigger exhaust piping and lower back pressure, so HKS uses straight through muffler, and optimized exhaust path for these applications. Benefits include boost pressure gain, faster boost response, faster turbo spool, decreased turbo lag, and higher power and torque output. Expect an average gains of 10-25 horsepower on a stock engine, and much higher on a modified engine.

Legamax Exhaust – Legamax Exhaust was designed for both torque and horsepower optimization, creating a wider power band and higher peak outputs. To do so, each application is designed with different exhaust piping size, different muffler design, and different exhaust path. Doing so allows the exhaust gas to maintain the velocity while increase the volume flow rate. All Legamax Exhausts are constructed from stainless steel for protection from corrosion and better durability.

Legamax Premium Exhaust – An upgraded version of the Legamax Exhaust, further increasing power band and peak output. Most HKS Legamax Premium Exhaust features titanium muffler tips. Please read the Legamax Exhaust section for details.

Agency Power GT30R or GT35R Turbo Kit Mitsubishi EVO VIII IX

Agency Power released their first EVO turbo kit back in 2004 for the original EVO VIII. This piece was put to the test on big tracks like Willow Springs and Buttonwillow in California, as well as many others here in Arizona. We upgraded the original design which used a T3/T4 turbo to Garrett GT turbos and now, Agency Power has completely redesigned the EVO VIII and IX turbo kit. The new GT turbo kit features a redesigned high flow header with a true merged collector. Using all 321 stainless steel and precision TIG welds, the header is designed to maximize your power and improve turbo spool up. Using thick CNC machined flanges, the kit will bolt up without any modifications to the factory radiator assembly. The kit uses either a GT35R or GT30R turbo and a Tial 38mm external wastegate. The kit includes the O2 housing which connects via a band clamp to the supplied high flow 3 inch downpipe. The external wastegate dump pipe bolts to the wastegate and is routed in a safe manner.

To further improve the kit, Agency Power includes a lower intercooler pipe to fit with the factory or aftermarket intercoolers. This intercooler pipe is then finished in a textured black color. We also supply a new turbo suction pipe which features a blow off valve return port. This is also finished in a textured black color. If you are retaining your factory MAF sensor, we include our CNC machined aluminum MAF adapter and K&N high flow cone air filter. The kit then includes all necessary oil and water lines with fittings needed to connect to the factory locations. Finally, we supply Agency Power 5ply silicone couplers and all necessary clamps needed.

As tested on a stock 4G63 motor, we have seen this turbo setup produce more then 550 horsepower and on a built 2.3L or 2.4L engine in excess of 700 horsepower. Corresponding components are necessary to maximize performance. These components would include: ECU Tuning, Larger Injectors, Exhaust, Intercooler, Cams, Spark Plugs, and other related performance items.

WHICH TEIN PRODUCTS SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Springs

S. TECH - TEIN S. TECH springs are an excellent choice for lowering, or as an initial step towards sport suspension tuning. TEIN S. TECH spring features an average drop of 1.5 inch and average increase in spring rate of 20%. This results in a lowered center of gravity, less body roll and pitch, improved roll distribution, and better road holding capability. The lowered car also has a more stylish appearance. Every TEIN S. TECH spring application is road tested for proper balance between performance and comfort. TEIN S. TECH spring is made from Vanadium. TEIN S. TECH springs are more sports oriented than the TEIN HIGH TECH springs. TEIN S. TECH is also called Dress Up Master, and is intended for street use.

H. TECH - TEIN HIGH TECH springs are an excellent choice for lowering, with minimum compromise in comfort and performance. TEIN H. TECH springs feature an average drop of 1.3 inch and average increase in spring rate of 10%. This results in a lowered center of gravity, less body roll and pitch, improved roll distribution, and better road holding capability. The lowered car also has a more stylish appearance. Compared to S. TECH springs, H. TECH springs offer a softer and comfier ride, yet provides better handling than the OEM springs. TEIN H. TECH is also called Luxury Master, and is intended for street use.

G. TECH - TEIN GRAVEL TECH springs were developed for gravel driving, such as off road driving, rallying, and rallycross. TEIN GRAVEL TECH springs were developed in combination with the Type GRAVEL dampers, but can be used with other high performance dampers as well. With a tuned ride height and spring rates for off road driving, TEIN GRAVEL TECH spring is no doubt a competition spring. Compared to TEIN S. TECH and TEIN H. TECH springd, the TEIN GRAVEL TECH springs offer a much stiffer ride and roll distribution suitable for off road driving. TEIN GRAVEL TECH is also called Dirt Trial Master, and is intended for competition use.

Street Coilover Systems

BASIC - TEIN BASIC DAMPER is TEIN's entry level coilover kit. Compared to OEM suspension, the TEIN BASIC DAMPER features a higher spring rate and stronger damping force. Each application is optimized in which the spring rate is matched to the damper, so under-damping and over-damping will be minimized. The TEIN BASIC DAMPER features adjustable ride height and short stroke dampers. Other features include twin tube shell case, newly designed spring seat, and three stage powder coating. TEIN BASIC DAMPER is the perfect choice for entry level users who want a matched spring and damper set with the optimized damping forces right out of the box. TEIN BASIC DAMPER is also called Driving Master and is intended for street use.

SUPER STREET - TEIN SUPER STREET DAMPER is a step up from TEIN BASIC DAMPERS. Compared to TEIN BASIC DAMPER, the SUPER STREET DAMPER features a similar spring rate, but with a damper that features 16 to 20 levels of damping force adjustments. Similar to the BASIC DAMPER, the SUPER STREET DAMPER also features adjustable ride height and short stroke dampers, as well as twin tube shell case, newly designed spring seat, and three stage powder coating. The 16 to 20 levels of damper force adjustment can be made by simply turning a knob on the top of the damper. With the damping force adjustment ability, users can change the stiffness of the suspension easily according to the driving conditions, for example, soft setting for street driving and stiff setting for track driving, or using different stiffness front to back to fix minor understeer or oversteer. TEIN SUPER STREET DAMPER is also called Driving Master and is intended for street use.

COMFORT SPORT - TEIN COMFORT SPORT is a coilover kit developed with sport and comfort in mind. Compared to OEM suspension, the TEIN COMFORT SPORT features a higher spring rate and stronger damping force, yet with minimum decrease in comfort and quietness. This was accomplished by a carefully chosen spring rate and matched to a mono-tube design damper featuring the Micro Speed Valve Technology. Together, the COMFORT SPORT provides a smooth and luxurious ride with added cornering stability and control. Compared to BASIC and SUPER STREET DAMPER, the TEIN COMFORT SPORT provides a slightly less sporty ride but still provides a great increase in comfort and quietness. TEIN COMFORT SPORT features 16 levels of damping force adjustment, Micro Speed Valve Technology, inverted shell case, ride height adjustment, newly designed spring seat, and mono-tube shell case. TEIN COMFORT SPORT is also called Cruising Master and is intended for street use.

EURO DAMPER - TEIN EURO DAMPER is very similar to TEIN COMFORT SPORT in every way, please read the above section for details. As the name implies, the TEIN EURO DAMPER is designed for European cars. Features and technology are similar to TEIN COMFORT SPORT. TEIN EURO DAMPER is also called Cruising Master and is intended for street use

TYPE FLEX - TEIN TYPE FLEX is a coilover kit developed with performance and comfort in mind. With years of experience in motorsports, TEIN produced TEIN TYPE FLEX to provide the ultimate balance between comfort and performance. Compared to OEM suspension and other entry level coilovers, TEIN TYPE FLEX provides a greater increase in cornering performance, while still being comfortable enough to use on the street. This was accomplished by a higher spring rate and a twin tube internal design damper which allows increased piston stroke and increased durability. TEIN TYPE FLEX features 16 levels of adjustment, pillowball upper mounts, three stage powder coating, full length ride height adjustment, and newly designed spring seat. TEIN TYPE FLEX is the ideal coilover system for users who participate in less intense motorsport events, such as track days and time attacks, while still being able to drive the same setup on the street without too much sacrifice in comfort. TEIN TYPE FLEX is also called Control Master and is intended for both street and competition use.

MONO FLEX - TEIN MONO FLEX is developed for entry level competition motorsports. Features include 16 levels of damping adjustment for both compression and rebound, pillowball upper mounts, Micro Speed Valving (MSV) Technology, inverted shell case, mono tube design, Teflon coated damper body, conical spring washers, full length adjustment. The heart of the TEIN MONO FLEX coilover system is its mono-tube damper, which allows increased oil capacity, improved heat dissipation, and larger valving. This mono-tube damper allows stiffer spring rates for racing application. TEIN MONO FLEX is designed for users seeking aggressive handling on the street and at the track. TEIN MONO FLEX is a step up from TEIN TYPE FLEX, with increase in performance but decrease in comfort. TEIN MONO FLEX is also called Winding Master and is intended for both street and competition use.

Competition Coilover Sytems

SUPER DRIFT - TEIN SUPER DRIFT is developed specifically for drifting. With the support of D1 drifting competition's drivers and teams, TEIN was able to use their feedbacks and developed the TEIN SUPER DRIFT. Spring rates and damping force were chosen to increase car control in a drift, and help initiate a better slide. TEIN SUPER DRIFT features a full length damper which allows separate ride height and preload setting adjustement. Other features include 16 levels of adjustment, specifically developed valving for drifting, Teflon coated damper body, twin tube shell case, and newly designed spring seat. TEIN SUPER DRIFT is the ideal coilover system for drifters of any level. TEIN SUPER DRIFT includes pillowball upper mounts which allow camber adjustment and a more responsive ride. TEIN SUPER DRIFT is also called Side Way Master and is intended for competition use.

SUPER RACING - TEIN SUPER RACING is developed from the actual competition experience. Both spring rate and shock valving were derived from years of motorsport experience. TEIN SUPER RACING has a fully adjustable damper utilizing a full length adjustable system to allow independent adjustment of shock height and pre-load. Separate 16 levels of adjustment for both compression and rebound allows user to fine tune the suspension. Front pillowball upper mounts allow for both camber and caster adjustments. Externals reservoirs on SA type dampers allow for added oil capacity and ultimate performance. Other features include high tensile strength racing spring, mono tube shell case, Alumite finish, and Teflon coated damper body. TEIN SUPER RACING is ideal for advanced and professional drivers who want a complete damper tuning capability. TEIN SUPER RACING is also called Circuit Master and is intended for competition use.

TYPE HT - TEIN TYPE HT was developed using TEIN's experience in Tarmac racing. Both spring rate and shock valving were tuned for tight courses, such as Gymkhana and Autocross competition, allowing for fast transitional response and optimal grip. Separate 16 levels of adjustment for both compression and rebound allows the user to fine tune the suspension. Mono tube design allows for optimal performance. TEIN TYPE HT is ideal for drivers seeking quick and crisp response on tight courses, such as Gymkhana and Autocross competition. TEIN TYPE HT is also called Gymkhana Master and is intended for competition use.

TYPE HG - TEIN TYPE HG was developed using TEIN's experience in Gravel racing. Both spring rate and shock valving were tuned for gravel courses, such as rally and dirt trail racing. TEIN TYPE HG is constructed from steel for additional durability, in order to survive the harsh conditions of gravel driving. Separate 16 levels of adjustment for both compression and rebound allows the user to fine tune the suspension. To prevent aeration, TEIN specially developed a unique free piston in the construction of TEIN TYPE HG. Other features include twin tube design, and external reservoir for extended shock travel needed for gravel courses. TEIN TYPE HG is ideal for serious gravel driving, such as Rallycross, stage rally, and dirt trail racing. TEIN TYPE HG is also called Dirt Master and is intended for competition use.

TYPE GRAVEL - TEIN TYPE GRAVEL is TEIN's entry-level competition damper for Gravel racing. Just like the TEIN TYPE HG, shock valving was tuned for gravel courses, such as rally and dirt trail racing. The piston stroke has been designed and tested for ultimate performance on uneven surfaces, and to withstand the abuse from gravel racing. Other features include 16 levels of damping force adjustment and twin tube shell case design. TEIN TYPE GRAVEL can be used with OEM springs, however for optimal performance use of TEIN G TECH springs is highly recommended. TEIN TYPE HG is ideal for users who drive aggressively on gravel, and want the ability to use different springs. TEIN TYPE Gravel is also called Dirt Trail Master and is intended for competition use. PLEASE NOTE: TEIN TYPE GRAVEL damper kit does not include springs.

TYPE N1 - TEIN TYPE N1 damper was developed through extensive road racing experience. TEIN TYPE N1 is TEIN's flagship damper for circuit racing; it is the pinnacle of TEIN's racing innovation and technology. TEIN TYPE N1 damper stroke and valving were designed specifically for circuit racing. Some of the advance features include 20 levels of separate compression and rebound adjustment, full length adjustability of the shock height, external reservoirs, and mono tube design. TEIN recommends using TEIN racing springs with TEIN TYPE N1 dampers. TEIN TYPE N1 damper is ideal for professional circuit racing. TEIN TYPE N1 is also called Circuit Master and is intended for competition use. PLEASE NOTE: TEIN TYPE N1 damper kit does not include springs.

TYPE Gr.N - TEIN Group N damper was developed through rigorous testing in the P-WRC. TEIN Group N is TEIN's flagship damper for off road use, it is the pinnacle of off-road coilover system and TEIN's latest technology. Some of the advance features include 3+1 way damper adjustment, full length adjustability of the shock height, external reservoirs, and inverted mono tube design. Other TEIN's latest technologies include Micro Speed Valving (MSV), Temperature Compensating Valve (TCV), and Hydraulic Bump Stop (HBS).
